Here's
the "Mint
Green
Helment"

Almost
finished

Heres a
view with
the lining

I've been teaching
a friend at church to

knit. She knit this
beautful "Baby
Friendship"

blanket. She
did a great job.
She lined it with soft flannel.
What’s up - Well our good friend “Pauline” is in the hospital and we don’t know what’s
Going on. SSSSSSSSSSSSSooooooo we are concerned.

WIP – I ran out of yarn for the “Blue boy baby sweater”. I was able to purchase 3 more skeins. Only 66 yard a skein. I must have misread the yardage. I finished “Mint Green Helmet Hat”. Zaynab helped me @ Friday Night Knits. I worked on the “Entrelac Scarf” for a few hours this week. I’ve just be to blue. The fingerless gloves … well the one is still on the needle.

What I’m Doing - Babysit “Boo Boo” tonight. I will go to knitting for a couple of hours. Our friend Aaron is going to show us some blogging tips and how to make uploading pictures easier. My husband and I are going to a basketball game tomorrow night again! I will take my knitting. I had a lady intrigued with the I-Cord finish of the Mint Green Hat. It was fun talking with her.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To
– “The Game of Silence” by Louise Erdrich read by Anne Fields is very good and I’m almost done. It was a very sweet book. I’m going to look for more of her books. Still listenting to “Eye Contact” by Cammie Mc Govern on a playaway. I need to listen more not just a exercise.

Weather : Let it snow Let is snow Let it snow !
Tonight: Mainly clear. Low 21F. Winds light and variable.
Tomorrow: Mainly sunny. High 27F. Winds light and variable.
Tomorrow night: Clear. Low 23F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: Plenty of sun. Highs in the low teens with temperatures nearly steady overnite.
Monday: More sun than clouds. Highs in the low 20s and lows in the upper single digits.

What’s up - Thanksgiving is over!!! Now on to Christmas.

WIP – The “Blue boy baby sweater” is coming along. I’m to sleeve #1. I’ve gotten 3 buttons added. The baby is already here! Sooooo I better hurry. I’m almost finished with the “Mint Green Helmet Hat”. I’m taking it to knitting tonight to find out how everyone finished their’s. I have an idea but before I commit I want to check out the options. I went to a reverse knitting class 2 weeks ago and am making an “Entrelac Scarf”. Also on the needles still……..the fingerless gloves. I did add the waste yarn.

What I’m Doing - My husband and I are going to a basketball game tomorrow night and of course I’m off to to knitting tonight and tomorrow. I want to start baking for Christmas. I went with a friend shopping on “Black Friday” and got some shopping done. Not many gifts this year as we’re going to Hawaii on Christmas Eve. My darling daughter told me not to decorate but I still put up most my “Christmas” stuff. Just because we’re not going to be here on Christmas what about the 30 days before? She does not have to decorate because they sold there house and now they are scrabbling to find a new house.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I finished “The Garden of Eden” by Fay Kellerman read by read by George Guidall and others. This audio book is a collection short stories. It was very good. Now I’m listening to “The Game of Silence” by Louise Erdrich read by Anne Fields. This is rated as a “juvenile” book but I find it very good. About american Indians and the 1600’s.
I’m still listening to “Eye Contact” by Cammie Mc Govern on a playaway. It’s easy to take along to “Curves” and listen while I’m working out!

Weather : Brrr….. it’s getting cold. Our snow is all gone. And the roads are pretty dry for drivng!

What’s Going On – A date with my husband tonight. We will go to a local UAA Men’s basketball game. Tomorrow knitting workshop with KON and in the evening a Knitting Class at the Knitting Grounds.

WIP – Fingerless mitten is still and orphan… but I’m to the thumb. The “boy baby sweater” is coming along .. 3 buttons and I’m almost to the sleeves. I got my order from “Knit Picks”. More needles? And a little yarn that was on sale. Some that my LYS was out of. I’ve got a “Cable top down hat” in Mint green (see picture) that I’m working on for a Belated Birthday Present. Its fun and fast but the directions leave a lot to be desired. It’s a good thing that Zaynab and Grandma got me going!

What I’m Doing – Getting ready for Thanksgiving and trying to think about Christmas. We will be in Hawaii for part of Christmas with my daughter. It won’t seem like it but I’m going to decorate anyway.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I finished “The Burnt House” by Faye Kellerman and “10 Days in the Hills” by Jane Smiley. Still listening to a playaway – ‘Eye Contact” by /Cammie Mc Govern. Read by Julia Fletcher. In the car I’m listening to “The Garden of Eden” by Faye Kellerman read by George Guidall. It’s a collection of short stories and very good.

Weather - Brr… it’s getting cold but not enough.. snow showers... that means
wet snow and icy roads.

Today: Overcast. High 28F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies. Low 19F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Tomorrow: Mainly cloudy. High 24F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy with snow flurries and snow showers, especially overnight hours. Low near 15F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%.
Sunday: Light snow at times. Highs in the upper 20s and lows in the low 20s.

This is
the "Cable
Ear Flap"
hat. From
the top down.

This is the
"Boy Baby
Sweater".
I'm using
Kathy M.
generic
pattern.
And adding the buttons as I go.

What’s Going On – Friday Night Knit@thegrounds tonight! I’m going to start ona helmet hat for a birthday present for an 11 year old. Tommorrow is Knitters of the North and we have to bring the snack. Hmmm what to make?

WIP This week I’m working on the fingerless mittens still. I bought eyelet buttons for the “boy baby sweater”. So far I’ve added to buttons. I really like knitting the button on the same row as the button hole. If I use double point needles for the sleeves then when I’m finished all I have to do is block! I need to have this sweater done by next Friday. We’ll see.

What I’m Doing – This weekend KON and relaxing and knitting. I do need to grocery shop. Get geared up for thanksgiving. I hate to go to the commissaray though. Why does thanksgiving and Christmas fall on the “woman” of the house.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m still listening to “The Burnt House” by Faye Kellerman. In the car I’m listening to “10 Days in the Hills” by Jane Smiley. She’s a good writer but…. There are places where I fast forward because she gives too much information. I also am listening to a playaway – ‘Eye Contact” by /cammie Mc Govern. Read b?y Julia Fletcher. It’s a novel about an Autistic child and the prejudices that go with raising a child with special needs. I really like the idea of these “Playways” they are light and compact and I expecially like them when I’m working out at Curves. Which I got to go 2 times this week.

Weather - Sounds like it going to snow……
Tonight: Cloudy with rain and snow showers this evening. Snow showers overnight. Low 31F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 40%.
Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers mainly during the morning. High 34F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%.
Tomorrow night: Flurries and a few snow showers throughout the night. Low 28F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 30%.
Sunday: Snow showers at times. Highs in the low 30s and lows in the mid 20s.
Monday: Morning snow showers. Highs in the upper 20s and lows in the low 20s.

What’s Going On – Friday Night Knit@thegrounds tonight!

WIP – This week I finished the baby hat and booties. I’m working on another baby sweater.
The EZ sweater is on the back burner.

What I’m Doing – This weekend I babysitting!!!! So I will be tired by the time Monday comes. But it will be a good tired.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m still listening to “The Burnt House” by Faye Kellerman. We’ve been busy at work and I haven’t had time to listen. I just finished “100 Dollar Baby” by Robert Clark on a playaway from the library. It was very good. 4*.

Weather - High today 36 and rainy. Chance of snow tonight and Saturday - Sunday sunny and clear and cold.

And an "Umbellical
Cord Hat" to go
with the booties.

What’s up - We’ll l’m busy at work getting ready for our annual tackle show.

WIP – The “5 Hour babysweater” is done…woooow. And it only took about…30 hours give or take. I am going to post a picture this week. My umbillical cord hat (small project for the car) is almost done. I just wish my double knit hat would come together. I think I have frogged or tink’d at least 3 times. EZ babysweater is not as EZy as EZ makes it. I have had to refer to the video several times. Oh well. I need to finish it and start a something new. I still think Baby sweaters are a waste of knitting. They grow to fast. (The babies) The continental method is still on the back burner. Oh yeah the orphan slipper is still an orCheck Spellingphan.

What I’m Doing - My husband and I are having an over-nighter with our grandson tonight. I still get to go knitting. I updated our webpage the other day. If you have a chance go and see!
http://www.fridaynightknit.blogspot.com/ .Tomorrow is the monthly “Knitting Guild” meeting.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I finished “Love in the Present Tense” by Catherine Hyde. This book is so very good. I recommend it. 5********. I’m listening to “The Burnt House” by Fay Kellerman – read by George Guidall. I like it so far. And on my night stand is”Lovely Bones” by Alice Sebold.

Here's the orphan
slipper for my DH
that I've been
working on.
Here's the "Surprise Baby Sweater" by EZ. I don't know.. I just want to knit a baby sweater for a boy. Baby's grown out of these things so fast it's hardly worth it. I think I'm going back to baby booties and hats. What do you think?

What’s up - I’m sore and I mean I can hardly move. I haven’t been to Curves in 10 days. I didn’t think it would hit me this hard. I think my spine hurts the worse. I even had a hot tub when I got home.

WIP – I blocked the “5 Hour baby sweater”.. now I need to find some buttons. My small car project is coming along. It recommends that I knit stitch/stitch for 5”. We’ll see. The EZ baby sweater is coming along. I’m trying the continental method but I don’t like how loose my stitches are. My LYS had a big sale this week and I got some yarn.

What I’m Doing - I sat at the Knitters of the North table for a few hours on Sunday during the yarn Expo. It was fun visiting with everyone from different fiber guilds. And we had a few people interested in joining. I heard from a local teacher that the classes weren’t well attended. I wonder why more people didn’t sign up. I personally had other obligations. We did talk to a member of our guild who does lovely lace. She had left a few samples for people to look at. We we’re asked to bring samples of our projects. Anyway when she came to pick up her lace items we got to talking and she is willing to teach a Saturday Seminar on lace. That would be awesome.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - I’m done with the “Web of Evil” and “Miss Julia Strikes Again”. They were both 4 stars. J.A. Jance will definitely be on my “Looking for List”. Right now I’m listening to “The Burnt House” by Faye Kellerman RB George Guidall. I love the way George reads a book. In the car I’m listening to “Love in the Past Tense” by Catherine Hyde. This book has three readers. One for each character. It’s like a journal of a very poor young man whose mom disappears and a bachelor takes him in. Heart wrenching. Very well written. I will be looking for more of her books too.

Weather : Well winter, and snow are just around the corner. The snow on the mountains behind us is coming down fast. I guess it snowed in Fairbanks this week. I’m not looking forward to the cold weather.
Tonight: Overcast with rain showers at times. Low near 35F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 40%.
Tomorrow: Rain showers in the morning becoming more intermittent in the afternoon. High 44F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy skies. Low 31F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: Partly cloudy skies. High near 40F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.

Mood- Friday Night Knits… I’m trying to get the blogspot set up… we will see??

WIP – The “double knit” hat I finally got the hang of it. Some mistakes…I call them design details. I finished the 5 hour babysweater. Will post a picture. I need to block. I’m going to try and steam with my little hand steamer. My small car project is a infant baby hat. I’m on row 10. I’m working at the “Yarn Expo” on Sunday for a few hours. Maybe I’ll get to see Lilly Chin.

What I’m Doing - Hopefully off to knitting. I’ve been working on my blog. Still trying to get things set up with my sidebar. Look I even posted a U-Tube video on knitting. I was really excited about being on someones blog-roll but I went there today and boo hoo she took me off. I’m to shy to ask why. I met the lady… really nice … she showed me her’s and added me on the spot. Oh well.. at least the “knitting grounds” is still up on her site. I will leave her on "My Fav's".

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - Still listening to another J.A. Jance novel “Web of Evil”. Read by Karen Ziemba. I’ve been listening to “Miss Julia Strikes Again”. Very funny and a good listen.

Weather :
Tonight: Steady light rain this evening. Showers continuing overnight. Low around 40F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70%.
Tomorrow: Showers in the morning, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. High 52F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 40%.
Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy skies early followed by increasing clouds with showers developing later at night. Low 41F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.
Sunday: Cloudy. Some light rain is likely. High 46F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
Monday: Light rain. Highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 30s.

Continental Knitting!

I found this and wanted to share but wasn't sure how to do...

Mood- I’m tired and anxious both at the same. So much to do and so little time – it my work that has me anxious. We gearing up for our “Tackle Show” and although things are coming together.. there not.

WIP – The “double knit” hat is not going well. I didn’t have the right # of stitches on. And I couldn’t get the hang of working with 2 yarns at the class. Every night this week I did work on – I tink’d it about 100 times. Well 10. I’m not happy about. I’m working on a baby hat for my small project.

What I’m Doing - Game night is off so Friday night knitting. I want to start my EZ baby sweater. There are several people including Zaynob who have knit one. This weekend is the Yarn Council Fiber Expo. I can’t afford the classes. I’m going to help in the Guild’s booth on Sunday. Maybe I’ll get more knitting done. We are going to the cabin tomorrow to close it up. I’ll work on DH slippers and hopefully get them done.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - I finished “Dead Wrong” by J. A. Jance and I also finished “Letter of a Homestead Woman” by Elinore Pruitte Stewart. Letter written by a pioneer woman. It was very good. Now I’m listening to another J.A. Jance novel “Web of Evil”. Read by Karen Ziemba.

Tomorrow night: Rain likely. Low 49F. Chance of rain 80%.
Sunday: Periods of rain. High around 55F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%.

5 hour Baby Sweater
minus the sleeves.
Who knits this in
5 Hours?
What’s Going On- I’ve been working on my blog. Trying to jazz it up at bit and learn more things. Our “Friday Night Knitting @ The Grounds” would like to create a blog. We would have pictures of each of us and the items we’re knitting and the social things that are going on with us.

WIP – I finish the homework for the workshop on the “double knit” hat. I finished my lastest washcloth and have cast on a “Newborn baby” hat. I will work on that as my small project.
I’ve finished the body of the “5 Hour Baby Sweater”. I will post a picture.

What I’m Doing - Friday night knitting tonight. Tommorrow my DH and DD have a softball tournament. I will be watching Boo Boo. Then it will be off to the workshop on the Double knit hat

Mood- Full and happy! We had a potluck end of the season dinner at work. Hmmm good food and lots of fun.

WIP – I finished Boo Boo’s pullover this week. I posted a picture yesterday. I also finished one of my DH slippers. The guild’s workshop this quarter is “double knit” hat and I have started the homework. I had to cast on with the “provisional” cast on. I went to
http://www.knittingatknoon.com/provisional they have a wonderful video showing how cast on with a crochet hook. Makes it very easy.

What I’m Doing - Friday night knitting, I hope. I did not make it last Friday night because of a family crisis. Tomorrow is the guild’s monthly meeting! I just love seeing what everyone is making. They are going to have someone show a simple mitten pattern that we can use for our charity knitting this winter along with hats.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - I finished “The Sleeping Doll” by Jeffery Deaver very good. We might have a new author to listen to. I’m listening to “Dead Wrong” by J. A. Jance, read by Susan Ericksen.. She’s very good reader. I’m on disk #3.

Mood-
Everyone is home from Minnesota and the funeral. Things went well. Well this is Friday and it’s a holiday weekend. I excited about a extra day to KNIT!!!! But Tuesday will be wicked here at work.

WIP
– Well what can I say about the Pullover. I had to frog the ribbing again. Not a pretty sight. The twisted stitch didn’t look good at all. And my wrist and elbows are giving me fits. I sure hope it doesn’t interfer with my knitting this weekend at the cabin. I’m almost done with one of my DH slippers. I ‘m almost done with the wash cloth with the twisted stitch. I do think it looks good but not on that particular sweater pattern. I got my camera back so I have to work on pictures.

What I’m Doing
– Friday night knitting as usual and we’re going to the cabin for tomorrow and the fair on Sunday or Monday.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – “The Sleeping Doll” by Jeffery Deaver Read By Anne Twomey. On disk 6 of 13 very good – I’ve just not had time for listening and knitting this week.

Weather
Tonight: Rain Showers this evening. High 64 low 49
Tommorrow: Partly cloudy in the morning. Rain showers later in the day.
Sunday: Considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers. High 56F
Monday: Showers possible in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 40s.

Friday, August 24, 2007

Mood- This is a very sad week. My father in law passed away. He has been sick but we thought he was getting stronger. He was 86 years old and had lived a full and wonderful life. Now he’s with the Lord. My DH and DD are in Minnesota for the funeral. I could not get off work for this service but will get off for the Arizona service….but I still wish I could be there for support. All alone and what do you do…. Pray and Knit!

WIP-
Pullover for Boo-Boo is almost done. I think that’s a repeat. I did finish the sleeves and have start the bottom ribbing.. I’m going to use the twisted stitch. I’ve been practicing on a wash cloth. My knitting friend at work showed me the technique but pointed out I was twisting every row on the knits. For the bottom she recommends every other row. Hmm I’ll try and see. I’ll let everyone know. I planned on taking a picture of my wash cloth but my daughter has my camera in Minnesota. .

What I’m Doing – Friday night knitting and garage sales tomorrow. Looking for good deals. Now is the time to good used cloths for Boo-Boo.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To –“The Sleeping Doll” by Jeffery Deaver. Read By Anne Twomey. Very good so far.

Weather -Tonight: Showers this evening becoming less numerous overnight.Low 49F. chance for rain. Tommorrow: Partly Cloudy –
High 64- Sunday: High skies – High of 60.Rain on Monday.

Friday, August 17, 2007

Mood- Tonight is game night so no knitting..
whine. I feel like knitting not playing cards. I will knit
tommorrw at the cabin.

WIP –The pullover for Boo-Boo is almost finished .. a friend at work showed me the twisted stitch for the bottom ribbing. I finished the other sleeve last night.. but the ribbing is tighter so I will frog the left sleeve and re-do the cuff. I finished another washcloth. I started the “The 5 hour Baby Sweater” revised pattern. I started it a Friday night knitting and they showed me how to do the M1 and knit into the back. Well……….reading the instructions (after your past the 9th row) it say’s to use EZ backward loop M1. That is not what I was shown, or at least what I thought I was shown. “Pick up the bar between the two stiches and knit into the back” is not the same as making a backward loop and put on left needle then knit into the back. Sigh I sure hope I will not have to Frog this sweater too.

What I’m Doing – Game night with the girls.. “Hand and Foot” and potluck then to the cabin tomorrow and some serious knitting on my DH felted slippers.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To
– I finished “At Knit’s End” audio by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, a birthday present and I am starting “Double Homicide” by Faye and Jonathan Kellerman. Good so far.

Weather
Tonight:: Partly cloudy. Low 53F.
Tommorrow: Intervals of clouds and sunshine. High 63F.
Sunday: Cloudy with a few showers. High 59F.

Chance of rain 30%.

Boo Boo
"Little Blankie"
Mood – Good – I’m glad it’s Friday. My nephew is in town for a wedding this weekend
and my son and husband have taken him fishing!

What I’m Doing – I plan on going knitting tonight and then guild meeting tomorrow and then to the cabin after church on Sunday. I plan on buying “Denise Needles” tonight. I will be able to take with me on the airplane,
or so I’ve been told. This week has been a little slow at work.
We’ve been enjoy softball games in the evening and last weekend.
We even took “Belle” with us.

WIPThe buttonhole purse is still on hold. Still working
on the top down sweater for my grandson.I finished the washcloth. Still working on my “Scramble socks” as a small take along project. Right now I’m trying to knit a top down baby sweater.. I’ve frogged 3 times. I really wanted to be finished before we leave for Seattle appointments. I’m using the Encore baby pattern that I used last year, but the yarn over’s increases aren't looking right. I’v frogged 4x’s and I want to scream. I’ve misplaced my other resource book that I used to knit a baby sweater top down last year.. it did not have yarn over increases. The book was called “The Portable Crafter”. So I will go to knitting tonight and look at the sample and get help. Tomorrow is our annual knitting guild picnic.I didn’t think I could go but now there’s been a change of plans and I’m going to get to go I think. I turned in the Guidepost sweater last Saturday at the “Mentors and Masters’ knit in.

Friday Night Knits at the Grounds

Here a some of my knitting friends.
We have decided that we are going

to learn to knit 2-socks on the same
cable probably the "Magic Loop" method.
I can't wait to start. One of the ladies is
going to teach us as she's already a "PRO".
Anyway I can't wait. Well I guess I will have
to or summer will be gone. :-(

"Holy Cow" no no it's "Howling Coyote's"

This is my friend
modeling a sweater
her sister in Arizona
made for her. Isn't
it beautiful. I wish I
I could knit that
good!

This is the "Scramble Sox's"
Magic Loop on Knit Pic's #2-24"

Happy 4th of July

Mood – It’s Friday. This is my usual day for posting. It’s a nice hot day for us. Looks like the weekend will be nice. I’m planning on going to my LYS tonight to knit. Tomorrow I think I will go garage sale…ing. The to the cabin for the day. If we don’t go to the cabin I might go to the Mentors meeting.

What I’m Doing – Been busy taking DH to the doctor’s etc. He’s not been feeling well and we’re trying to get to the bottom. Work is busy with people from out of town ordering for the season. I’ve also been helping my friend with a buttonhole purse. I helped her finish this week and I took it home and felted it for her. She’s going to like it. I thought it turned out great. The colors are allot lighter after the felting.

WIP – All done with “Guide Post Charity Sweater”. All the seams are sewn up now I just have to turn it in. It wasn’t as easy as I thought. I blocked it first then used the mattress stitch to sew up the sides. It still seems a little stiff. If I do again I will knit in the round for sure. The shoulder seam didn’t turn out like I thought. They will do. I will have to do more research next time. The buttonhole purse is still on hold. I’m still working on the top down sweater for my grandson. I plan on a major attack this weekend. I did work on the sleeves this week. I’m still working on the washcloth. I’m on my decreases so I’m over half done. I started my “Scramble socks” out of the yarn that I dyed. I call them “scrambled” because of the yarn colorway.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m finished with “Dream When Your Young by Elizabeth Berg. It's a story centered around WWII and a family with 3 young ladies and their lives while the “boys” are away at war. I’d give it a 3. I’m listening to
“Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child read by Dick Hill my favorite reader. Very good book so far.

Weather

Today: Sun and clouds mixed. High 67F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight - cloudy intervals. Low 51F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Tomorrow: Partly cloudy skies. High 64F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: Considerable cloudiness. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 50s.
Monday: Showers possible in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 50s.

This is my washcloth
in progress.

This is after
felting. The colors
are more pastel.
I think it turned
out nice. This is
her 2nd Buttonhole
purse. She's new
to knitting. She's a
crocheter.

Completed Hat!
Mood – It’s Friday. Boy summer has finally come to Alaska.. but so have the wild fires. There are several that are burning out of control so the smoke and haze that is hanging over Anchorage is terrible. Visablility is very limited. Apparently visablility in Kenai and up north where the fires is o.k. The wind is blowing the smoke our way. We might see the sun later today.

What I’m Doing – We won’t be going to the cabin this weekend because of the fire danger and the fire that is burning up in that area. I was thinking of going knitting tonight then garage sailing tomorrow. I need to look for a portable crib for BOO BOO. Our father’s day picnic was a success.

WIP – I’ve finished knitting the “Guide Post Charity Sweater”. Now all I have to do is sew up the seams. I wish I could have gone to the finishing class last month that the guild offered. The buttonhole purse is on hold. The hat for “Hat’s for the homeless” is done and turned in. The twisted stitch turned out just fine. Because the yarn was soft (encore) it didn’t spiral too much. I’m still working on the top down sweater for my grandson. I’m almost done with one sleeve. I just need to finish the second and add the ribbing on the sleeves and the bottom. I want to finish it so he can wear it camping. I started a wash cloth for a “take along” project. Just plain garter.. start with 4 stitch then increase every row till 44 stitch then dec. 1 stitch down to 4 stitches.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m finished “Fresh Disaster” by Stuart Woods. 4*. I need to finish “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult. We’ll see. I listened to Alibi Man by Tami Hoag ….. 5* -excellent. Now I’m listening to “Dream When Your Young by Elizabeth Berg. She also reads this novel but I’m not too fond of her voice.
It’s a little slow.

Weather – Mostly cloudy skies. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 62F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph.

More pictures...of of "The Yarn Harlot" visit.

Summer has come to Alaska

Mood – YEAH summer is here!!!

What I’m Doing – Getting ready to go to the cabin!!! My husband is recoping from his surgery and we are going to try and stay all weekend at the cabin and celebrate “father’s day”. Getting packed and ready will fall all on me but that’s o.k. He can help a little but I don’t want him to over do it. Hopefully we’ll be able to fish. And his sister and family will be up on Sunday for our annual picnic.

WIP – I'm still working on the “guide post charity sweater”. I’m also working in my grandson’s sweater, just finishing the first sleeve. The buttonhole purse is almost finished. I also started a hat for “Hat’s for the Homeless” project that we we’re doing in conjunction with the “Yarn Harlot's" visit. I will finish soon .. I’ll take a picture and post next week. I’m using a twisted stitch. I like the look. I did finish the baby sweater for my friend’s new grandson and mailed off before I got a “finished” picture. Oh well maybe she’ll take a picture for me.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m listening to “Fresh Disaster” Stuart Woods - A Stone Barrington Novel. Good no brain listening/mystery. I finished “6th Target” by James Patterson but could not finish “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult. Kids shooting kids didn’t settle well with me.

Weather – Partly Cloudy – 61 with a high of 63 /low of 52. Wind (cold) from the north 5 mph. Sunrise 4:22 am Sunset 11:40pm.. Lots of sunshine!

Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
is coming next month!
I got her new book so
she can autograph.

This is the "Guide Post"
Charity sweater. Hmm is
bigger than I thought it
would be and I'm using
acrylic yarn (per there
requirements) so I'm getting
a blister on my finger when
I knit.

This is the
top/down
Baby Sweater
Almost done!

This is the first
washcloth of the season
What I’m Doing – Work is getting hectic. It’s that time of the year. Today is clean up day. They feed us pizza and we clean up outside the buildings. My husband had a MRI this week and today we get the results. If you read this please say a prayer for him. He’s a cancer survivor. He’s been having some problems with his vision and mild headaches. So we’re getting it checked out.

WIP – I’m working on a “Guidepost’s” Charity child’s sweater. The Top Down Baby sweater is almost done. 2 more rows on the bottom and the finish on the collar. I plan on finishing this week and mailing it to the "new arrivial". Next I need to frog Chase’s sweater and work on the neck and finish the bottom. His birthday party is next Saturday. I better get busy. I want to go to knitting tonight and finish the buttonhole purse. The baby booties still need to be finished. It took me 1.5 hours while watching E.R. to wind the yarn that I dyed last month at the guild's monthly workshop. Phew.. I used a TP roll and that really helped to keep the yarn under control while I walked around in circles.LOL

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I am still listening to “19 Minutes” by Jodi Picoult. I’m on disk 14 of 18. It good.. about a boy who gets bullied by his peers.

Weather – Mainly cloudy. high of 48F. Tonight cloudy with a low of 38F. Cloudy all weekend.

Mood - It’s Friday. Horrah! The snow in our backyard is GONE!

What I’m Doing – I am not having a good week. My blood pressure is up again. Looks like I’ll have to be put on BP med. I don’t want to but… I need people to pray for my husband and my son. My husband for health issues with his eyes. And my son for a teaching job. He just got his Masters in teaching with an emphasize in social studies. He doesn’t always interview well but it’s because he’s nervous. He’s really good with kids and is in the top 5% of his class academically. Work is going fine for once. And guess what .. spring has come!

WIP – I still have 6 UFO in progress. I wish I could tell you I’m finished with something but I’m not. The person whom I’m making the baby sweater has a baby!!! But am I done…NO. But I’m coming along – I finished the sleeve and now I’m on the body. I had to rip out 5 rows last night on the body. The only good thing I have to remember is that when I’m done… I won’t have any sewing up or buttons. YEAH. I tried Chase’s sweater on him last week. It almost fits.. just a little big .. so maybe when I’m done with it, it will fit. I am going to frog the neck .. I don’t like the k1,p1 I did. I’m going to change it to k2, p2. I’m almost done with the buttonhole purse but am waiting for my knitting buddy to come home from California. I’m almost finished with a washcloth that I have in the car for in between times.
And the Odessa hat…well that’s on the back burner. Oh yeah the baby booties I had to frog again. So this week has been a Ribbbit week.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I finished the “The History of Love” by Nicole Kraus and am listening to “19 Minutes” by Jodi Picoult. This book is 19 disk and I’ve had a problem with disk 10 so I had to skip it. Next up is “Daddy’s Girl” by Liz Scottoline!!

Weather – Mainly cloudy. A few peeks of sunshine possible!!!! High of 49F. Tonight partly cloudy with a low of 36F.

Here's a picture from the "Nancy Wild" workshop
that our local guild hosted this past weekend. It was so much fun. The finish product was awesome. And Nancy is a great teacher...so very helpful. I will post my "Skein" when I get a picture. Go here to see the rest of the pictures.

I finally
finish the
"Two Toe"
socks for
my good
friend while
on vacation.
I usually work
on a pair of socks
while I'm traveling
or in the doctors
office.

This pair took 8 months. I don't know if that's good or bad.
LOL. She loved them.. especially the color. And the Merino
Stretch wool is soooo soft. The only draw back is that she'll
have to wash them by hand. She promised me that she
would wear them.
