This is Chase modeling his hat.
Isn't he cute. He has such rosey
cheeks.

Picture #2

This is Chase's hat! I really like this pattern.
You use shortrow to shape the ears. This hat
fits snuggly on the head.

This is a "none" knitted Christmas project.
"Neck warmers". I made them with Polar
fleece and flax seed. I'm making them for
my friends at work. You heat them in the
microwave for 2minute ... then ahhhhhh
warmth for your sore neck.

This is the Oven Mitt felted.

This is the 2nd OvenMitt I've made for a Christmas present... it will probabably be the last. I made the thumb knitting waste yarn across 12 stitches and later taking out the waste yarn and knitting the thumb.

This is the "Oven Mitt"
after being felted.
It turned out just a
little large - but it will
serve it's purpose!

Monday, December 11, 2006

This is the oven mitt before felting.
I put a 3 x 5 Index card as a indicator as to how big this mitt is. Hopefully it will felt up a little or it will be huge. I need to get this done and start another. Both are christmas presents.

Well these are the thumbless mittens I made for Chase. He was wearing them last night at his mom's hockey game. I just made "2 Toes". I k1/p1 ribbing for 1" for the cuff, then I cord all around!

This is the baby sweater pattern that several of us are knitting at my "Friday Night" knitting group. I added the hat and the booties. I sure hope the hat fits. Well the sweater and booties too. Sewing the buttons on was harder than I thought it would be.

Isn't he cute.. Crocodile hunter.
Mood Good I' m glad it's Friday. My shingles has flared up but I'm feeling better.

WIP The tube sock #2 is past the heel! The baby sweater is blocked but I need to sew on the buttons. The matching hat turned out to small it just barely fits Chase. I'm not making my hats deep enough. I did use my new needles and once I used the wrench to tight I decieded that I really like them. I am working on a matching pair of booties.

What I'm Doing This weekend will be busy. We have company and we are going to wedding. Fun time. Then maybe to the cabin on Sunday. I went to my DD's last night and cleaned her house, fixed us a oriental salad and had some Chase time. It was wonderful. He's so cute.

What Audio Books I'm Listen To I'm still listening to "Ten Big Ones" by Janet Evasnovich. We been busy at work and I haven't had time to listen. I just finished "Friends, Lovers, Chocolate" by Alex McCall Smith during lunch today. It was very good. 4*.

Here it is!
Hmm .. the picture of the sweater seems to be gone? Hopefully it uploaded.
Mood - The weekend is finally here… and another birthday come and gone.

WIP – The tube sock for the “Knitting Ground Sock Challenge” is coming along. I’m on the second sock.. almost to the heel. I’ll take a picture and post. Still working on the Enterlac Purse. I finished the baby sweater .. I just need to finish blocking and add buttons. I’m knitting a matching hat. I’m using my new needles from Knit Picks. I ordered the “Options” interchangeable needle set for my birthday. I was disappointed that they charge me postage… my order was over $75.00. The needles feel good but they keep untwisting from the cable. No instructions.. after looking at the catalog I think I’m suppose to use the lock. They need to include 3 double needle pockets instead of just 2, so all the needle ends will fit. I’m going to order another triple pocket- you need 9 pockets to put all the needle points in. I think I will order a 40” cable set, a viewer sizer, and needle size ID tags. I also want to try the double pointed needles… size 2 I think. I’m sure they won’t pay the postage to Alaska… that burns me because they will ship to New York and that further away from Oregon than Alaska.

What I’m Doing - This weekend is a Men’s softball tournament. So we will be going to those games and the cabin. I hope my DD goes to the cabin .. then I will get some grandma time with Chase.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - Ten Big Ones” by Janet Evanovich. I’m really enjoying her books. Easy listening and a quick listen - A Stephanie Plum novel. I just finished "Therapy" by Jonathan Kellerman very good 4*. I also finished "Lost and Found" by Carol Parkhurst – different - its about a reality show - 3*. I’m also listening to “Friends, Lovers, Chocolate” by Alex McCall Smith in the car. I love listening to Davina Porter read a book.

Weather - High 63 Scattered Showers..low 54F. 60% change of rain Saturday, Sunday cloudy and some light rain. High in the low 60’s. Not hot.... at least we're not in 100's. My sister lives in St. Louis area and she called .. heat index that day 104 degrees. Phew.

These are the baby slippers I made out Angora... Fluffy. Normally I wouldn't spend as much $$ on yarn but this was 1/2 price.
Mood - It’s a lazy summer /rainy day. The humidity is high.

WIP - The "Ribwarmer" is still on the back burner. I’m working on my Entralac Purse. I’m still knitting the baby sweater for Jonah and I’m done with my first sock.. except the heels and toes which I will do at the same time when I finish the left sock tube. Oh yes and Carrie’s V-neck pullover.. still working on that.

What I’m Doing – Tomorrow I’m going to a finishing class put on by the Knitting Guild. I hope to learn some new techniques that will help me with finishing my project! What Audio Books I’m Listen To - “Theraphy” by Johnathan Kellerman. Very good. Since I last downloaded I’ve listens to Blessings by Annna Quindlen, Twisted by Jonathan Kellerman, Rage by Jonathan Kellerman, Diggin to America by Anne Tyler, Metro Girl by Janet Evanarich, 12 Sharp by Janet Evanovich, and Lost and Found by by Carolyn Parkhurst. Lost and Found was the only one that was very different…. Although good .. different.

Weather - High 60 Showers . Tonight Cloudy with a few showers. Low 53F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40%. Weekend - Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the low 60’s. Chance of Scatter showers.

These are the socks

This is ...the purse!!

This is my SIL Slippers...
a work in progress

This is Chase's new Sweater..
it just need buttons
Mood - It's friday .. phew at last ...it's been a hard week

WIP - I finished Chase's sweater and I am going to add 3 baseball buttons. I will make a buttonhole loop. I'm still working on SIL's Slippers. I Started a pair of socks for the "Knitting Grounds" sock challenge. This is a tube sock with a waste yarn insert where the heel is. After I create the tube and the sock is the right length. I will go back and rip out waste yarn, pick up the "live" stitches and knit the heel, the same as the toe. The pattern is k2, p2 for 1 inch, the row 1, k2,p2 - row 2 - straight knit. I will follow this pattern on the top of the sock to the toe. This is the challenge. Everything is a first for me. I attended the enterlac purse class. This is more complicated than I thought it would be. I think I have the hang of it. I will post a picture. I still need to finish the "Ribwarmer" and the "Ballet V-Neck" sweater.

What I’m Doing - We are going to the cabin Saturday and then we will have a father's day picnic on Sunday with extended family. I plan on knitting and listening to books.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - :
“The Da Vinci Code”
by Dan Brown. It a little hard to follow.... read by Colin Stinton... he has a soft voice. I have to listen a little more before I give an opinion. Just finished "A Cold Heart" by Jonathan Kellerman very good at least a 4*. I just finished "Blessings" by Ann Quindlen, 3* and the "Hard Way" by Lee Child. A little slow at first but o.k.

Weather -
High 59 Scattered Showers . Tonight Cloudy with a few showers. Low 49F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Rain tapering off

Weekend - Times of sun and clouds. High 60s and low 50's.

Chase with his Birthday Hat on is head!! Isn't he cute. XXOOXX

Catie's Birthday socks.
Mood - Happy - I’m a grandma!! He’s a sweetheart…

WIP - Catie’s socks are done.. woohoo…. I mailed them yesterday and they will get there tomorrow….but….. Catie will be gone..she will be on the way to “Disney World.” I wasted $14.00 on postage. That’s a skein of ‘Touch Me”. Boo Hoo. "Happy Birthday Catie" even if you are playing with Mickey Mouse. I just hope they fit her. They sure look long. But my sister said that her foot is 9 ¼” sooooo I hope … I should have had her measure around her foot too. Next time I will have her send me a pair of her worn out socks. I cast on the first pair of slippers for my SIL while I was at the cabin and they are almost finished – I stopped at the cuff. I put them on a holder and will knit the second up to the same point. For some reason I only bought 3 skeins of yarn.. 1 tan and 2 green? I want a camouflage look but I think I better knit the other body of the slipper first. I got the yarn for Chase’s baby sweater and will work on the sleeves. I don’t like how long and wide they are. I put the sweater on him and he has a way to grow. I hope to finish the "Ribwarmer" with the I Cord around the edge. I only have the right front top to finish and sew at the shoulder .. then finish. I’m signed up for a class for making a enterlac purse. I already bought the kit. The teacher is the same as the “Ribwarmer” so I can always get help from her with my vest if I get stuck.

What I’m Doing - I will finish up the flower beds – almost done. We had a very warm weekend and holiday. It was the hottest Memorial we had in years. We even had a very serious forest fire. It’s finally raining and we need it, or rather the flowers and the ground does. My FIL arrives tomorrow for the summer.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - “In Cold Blood” by Turman Capote. I thought this would be a little dry…. I read while I was in school. It’s allot better than I thought. 4* so far. I finished “Two Little Girls in Blue” by Mary Higgins Clark. I’d give it a 3*. I also finished “Girls in Pants” The third summer of the sisterhood by Ann Brashares .5*. I finish “Beach Road” by James Patterson while at the cabin. I like the ending.. it’s different than I expected but that's James Patterson for you. I rate it a 4*. Next up "Blue Shoes".

Weather - High 53 Showers . Tonight Cloudy with a few showers. Low 46F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30%. Weekend - Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s.

Mood - O.K. Yeah is Friday. My daughter just called--- Sunday is the big day!!! They are going to enduce.. if she doesn’t have him before. I’m gonna be a grandma!!.

WIP - Catie’s socks are coming along although I seem to have ladder running up the inside of one of the socks. I hope I can tighten. I went to the Melissa Leapman seminar on Monday night. It was great. She is a terrific teacher. She had hand outs that made sense. She didn’t rush us and helped us along. I wish I had gotten to go to some of her other classes. I don’t think I’ll get to use information from “The Niffy Necks” for awhile… but who knows. I did buy her new book... she will ship them next week. I’m going to LYS for knitting tonight. I helped them move last week and I’m anxious to see how the new shop looks. She’s going to try and put some of the yarns by color not by brand. I think people will balk… who know. Alaskans are set in thier ways. I went to a shop in Seattle like that…the people there where SNOBS. What ever you do if you go there… do not ask “Where’s the sock yarn?”. LOL.

What I’m Doing - I plan on working on my flower’s this weekend so I will be spending $$$ at local greenhouse. I sure hope it warms up!!

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - "At Risk" by Patrica Cornwelli. I was a little disappointed.. but I guess with only 4 cd’s she could not get into detailed like she usually does.

Weather - High today 55 Low tonight 36 - The weekend forecast is cloudy and rain. Sundays high is suppose to be 60.....yeah right.

Friday, May 12, 2006

What I’m Doing - My LYS is moving .. tonight and tomorrow so I’m going to try and go over for an hour or so tonight b/4 EHS softball game, and again tomorrow morning. Then yard work and more EHS softball. I’m looking forward to Sunday church and relaxing.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - Split Second by David Baldacci. I only give it 2.5* .

Mood/What's UP - O.K. - I'm taking it one day at a time. - I find myself wanting to dialing my mom, or thinking "I wonder what mom would say?" It takes time .... I know but right now I'm just trying to get back to "normal". On top of everything else our little doggie "Freida" got sick right after my mom passed away. We got everything under control and she was doing o.k. Things we're looking up and then she went into heart failure and we had to put her down. It was very hard for me and my son ... especially on the heal of my mom's death. I'm working with the High School softball team again this spring so that's keeping me busy and my mind other places. I'm waiting for the birth of my first grandchild!!! I can't wait.

WIP/On My Needles - Since the last time I posted .... I'm still working on the sweater for my daughter.... the V-Neck is the problem and the Yarn shop where I took the class is out of business. I'm on the right front of my "Rib Warmer" - I only have 10 more row before I cast off /with the 3 needle bind-off (I've never done before) then finish with the I-Cord bindinhg around the body. I'm waiting for my "Blue Alpac" yarn / then I can finish the baby sweater I'm knitting for my yet to be born grandson!!! I also have a pair of socks on the needles for my niece. I finished the hat for my softball buddy. I'm going to try and upload some pictures!

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - Since I last posted I've listened to 6 books .. I'm listen to "Memoirs of a GEISHA“ (5)* * * * * It's wonderful. I can't put it down. I can't wait to see the movie.

Weather - Brrr It's suppose to be spring??? Weather Bug says - 39 degrees. Snowed over night and had to brush snow off the windshield. Will be cold tonight at the girls softball game.
