What been going on – Well we made it back from vacation. Whew was it hot in Modesto. 100 degrees is way too hot for this Alaskan Chick. There for 5 days and then we spent 4 days in Washington state. Oceanshores for 2.5 and Seattle area for 1.5 days. Hey I went to "So Much Yarn". It's a neat yarn shop on 1st Avenue in Seattle. I saw it on Ravelry. One of my "people" had gone there early this spring and it sounded like a place to scope out. I did buy some yarn and a pattern. I'll post pictures. My DH doctor's appointment went very well…so he was all up for the journey "Downtown Seattle". (They do not have good parking). We managed to find a parking spot. $3.00 later for 30 minutes. It was worth it. They we're very very friendly and I got a link to a pattern on Ravelry that they we're knitting called "Cashmere Neck Warmer". One skein, quick gift and I plan on making! Hey how about that Sara Palin! What I'm Doing – Tonight "Friday Night Knit @ the grounds and then "Knitter's of the North" ,our local guild, tomorrow. I've signed up for a "Lace" class next week. The class got filled up while I was gone and a friend who signed up relinquished her spot to me! Thank you Karolyn you're a jewel. Catching up with work this week has been a "bear" WIP – The "Forrest Canopy Shawl" is not coming along as planned. I really need to finish and I will put in on the front burner to finish this weekend I hope!!! My friends husband whom I pray for while knitting it will be in the hospital this weekend for a procedure and it would be great if I could give it to her Sunday….. we'll see.I did finish the "Fingerless Gloves" and I gave the to Bobbies dear friend at Oceanshores. We cried and laughed and we miss Bobbie terribly. I worked on my "2 socks on 2 circulars" and am pass the afterthought heel. What Audiobooks I'm Listen To – I finished "Break No Bones" by Kathy Reich just today. And finish the playaway "The Lincoln Lawyer" by Micheal Connelly. Both we're very good. I'm listening to tge Playaway "Full Speed" buy Janet Evanovich. I just can't get into it. I also have "Full Blast" and "Thanksgiving" by Janet Evanovich… I might return till later time. I really want to start "The Broken Window" by Jeffery Deaver. What's On My I-POD – The "Cast on", Knit Picks Podcast, Letsknit2gether (Video Podcast, and 11 Episodes of "Sticks and Strings" that I'd hope to get caught up while I'm on vacation didn't pan out. I did listen to a few but time got away from me. The "Letsknit2gether" it turning to be a very good find! What's On My Night Stand – I finished the 2nd book by by Gilbert Morris now in the Series "Yellow Rose" and am ½ done with the 3rd book. If you like frontier based books Gilbert Morris is for you.

What I'm Doing – Olympics ended and I finished my project. I picked a simple pattern. "Sprial Socks" by Kathy Meggit. The socks will be for "The Knitters of the North's" fall charity project. I entered it in "Ravellympics' and TEAM ALAKA. This was an easy pattern that I picked on purpose. I knew I could finish the toes during closing ceremonies so I just knit both pairs from one skein using 2 sets of DP sz 5 needles. I would work one pattern repeat with #1 sock then the same set on sock #2. I knew I would do more watching than knitting so the total length is only 13 repeat or 12". A nice pair of socks for a women size 6. There's a method to my madness. I will post a picture later. We leave for vacation tomorrow night. We're going to California for a softball tournament then to Seattle for doctor's appointments then to Oceanshores to visit a friend. WIP – The "Forrest Canopy Shawl" is on its last repeat, then the edging. I'm taking that and my 2 socks on 2 circulars with me. I also plan on finishing the "Fingerless Gloves". Well Il have to because when we get to Oceanshores I plan on giving them to Bobbies' walking buddy. What Audiobooks I'm Listen To – I finished "Bones to Ashes" by Kathy Reich. It was so good I'm now listening to "Break No Bones" read by Barbara Rosenblat. The playaway I'm listening to is "The Lincoln Lawyer" by Micheal Connelly. I've been listening while I'm tanning as its light weight and easy to carry in your pocket. I'm listening to "Scream for Me" by Karen Rose on my CD-Player! What's On My I-POD – "Cast on", Knit Picks Podcast, Letsknit2gether (Video Podcast, and 11 Episodes of "Sticks and Strings". I hope to get caught up while I'm on vacation. I came across "Letsknit2gether" and I've listen to a few. It's very good. Lots of information on knitting and a good listen. What's On My Night Stand – If finished "Deep in the Heart" by Gilbert Morris now I'm reading book 2 in the Series "Yellow Rose". Weather – Autumn… fall.. rain |

What I’m Doing – Olympics starts tonight! I’ve joined TEAM ALAKA (http://teamalaska.blogspot.com) see link on side bar and Ravelympics. Tomorrow a wedding. And of course Friday Night Knit @ theground.
WIP – I felted my DH slippers. See the pictures I posted. I'm thinking of entrying in the State Fair. Not my first choice ..but a "done project" that hasn't been soiled. Rather plain. Nothing to write home about. Ladies in the guild have been encouraging us enter even the simplist of items.The “Forest Canopy Shawl” is on hold and I’m almost done with the second baby sock. I will cast on the Spiral Socks for the “Olympic Team Alaska". I’m going to try 2 on 2 circulars.
What Audiobooks I’m Listen To - In the car I’m still listening to “Break No Bones” by Kathy Reich read by Barbara Rosenblat. I finished "Silent in the Grave" by Deanna Rayboural. I’m listen to “Lovely Bones”at work, written and read by Alice Sebold. Very heart wrenching. It slowly grows on you. I’m still listening to the playway called “Bad Business” by Robert Parker when I’m at curves.
What's On My Night Stand – I finished Dee Henderson’s book “God’s Gift”. Now I’m reading “Deep in the Heart” by Gilbert Morris, a christian writer. I’m really enjoying this light reading about the Texas frontier.

What I’m Doing – Lots of weddings. One this weekend and my DH niece next weekend. So there’s showers and events this weekend. My class re-union is also next weekend. I’m not sure that I’m up for that. I’m still thinking about a project for the “Olympics” and Team Alaska.
WIP – The “Forest Canopy Shawl” is coming along. I only had to frog one time this week. I finished the baby hat and I’m to the toe of one of the socks. Read by Joe Mantegna. Good while I’m working out on the bike or at Curves.

What I’m Doing – We are planning on going to the cabin tomorrow for a day. Some serious knitting will be done. I’ll be finishing up my DH “felted clogs”. I almost done but I ran out of yarn…boo hoo. Also will work on the socks and “Forest Canopy Shawl”. I’ve got to figure out what project I want to work on for the “Olympics” and Team Alaska.

Friday June 20th.... Summer at last
WIP and FO’s - The Lily Chin sweater is still on my needles no progress. My DH felted slippers well… I worked on but I’ve had to frog because the current on is tooooo big. The Fingerless gloves (see the picture) are almost done. These are the ones I’m finishing for my dear friend that died in January. All done but the thumbs. I also have 2 socks on 2 circulars going!!!! I’m trying this technique and using my “ugly” yarn that I dyed last year.

What’s Going On - We're staying home this weekend. I hope to plant flowers, go garage saleing, and KNIT.
WIP – I'm still working on DH felted slippers - I did get allot done. I'm on the 9 section of the Forest Canopy Shawl" and...... I'm sure happy for life-lines. I'm thinking of getting some of the "new NORO sock yarn" that Zaynab just got in - I'll take a picture of it after I decide on the color--- like I need more sock yarn.

What’s Going On - – Memorial day on the way!!! Finally a 3 day weekend.
WIP – I’m working on the “Forest Canopy Shawl”. I think I finally got the hang of it. I love the way you can add a life line with the “knit pick” needles. Now if I can remember the Yarn overs! I’m also trying to finish the “buttonhole” purse. I plan on giving it to a friend moving to Illinois. I taught her to knit last year. She’s a natural. I also have been trying to finish my “baby socks” that I started from the “Sock Seminar” in April.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I finished “HOME TO HOLLY SPRINGS” by Jan Karon. I love Father Tim and I’m glad this is the first of a series. I also finished “THE 2 MINUTE RULE”. Now I’m listening to “THE SISTERHOOD” by Michal Palmer. Very good. A medical murder mystery.
What's On My Night Stand – PEOPLE OF THE WEEPING EYE by Kathleen O’Neal Gear and Micheal Gear. Very good. About the people of America- The great Mississippian chiefdom's from long ago before civilization and Columbus. The authors are very knowledgeable historians and archaeologists. Almost done then on toe “BEFORE GREEN GABLES” by Budge Wilson.

What's up – Well it’s Friday and time to update. It’s Boo Boo’s birthday weekend so it will be busy. Also tonight is game nite. I plan on going by knitting first then on with hubby. The short row seminar last week was good and I was able to work on my short row scarf or rather start over. The technique we learned does look better. I was not picking up my stitch correctly. Next week we gear up at work for the summer. I think things will be a little slower here with the gas $$$. I finished my friend’s babysweater for her Great Grandson yesterday and got it in the mail today. His birthday is the 23 and Boo Boo’s is the 21st so they are very close in age. I also sent Renee her Birthday present. A book on Looming and a small loom for making baby hats.
WIP - I blocked the babysweater using the wet towel method. It worked great. I think finding the buttons and sewing them is one of the hardest things when it comes to sweaters. I think I will always try attached the buttons while I knit.. it makes it so much easier. I started the “Forest Canopy Shawl”. Several people on Friday Nights are knitting. There are several pictures posted on “Friday Night Knits” blog. I also started the “Toe up Socks” – Magic loop technique. Man … finally settled on the “figure-8” cast on.
What Audio Books I’m Listen To – Still listening to "Home to Holly Springs" by Jan Karon. And the car – “2 Minute Rule” by Robert Crais, RB: Christopher Graybill. It’s a book about ex-con Max Holman who get out of jail and tries to connect with his son. The son (a police officer) gets killed before that can happen and Max tries to put the pieces together. Very good so far.

What's up - "Friday Night Knit" at "The Ground" tonight - I'm going to work on the baby sweater. Tommorrow is the "Knitting Guild" and a "Short Row" seminar.... and my husband has a run early in the morning. Sooooo off to the race.. then I'll race to the seminar... then I'll race over and pick up my husband... then he'll race back at 3PM and pick me up.. whew I'm tired just writting that.
WIP - Well the baby sweater is finished. I've blocked it and tonight I'm going to finish weaving in the ends and I might look for buttons. Hope to finish this weekend. If I have time I will start my socks .. the 2 on 1. I'm finishing the small baby sock .. the one from the March Sock seminar. They don't fit Chase so I will have to wait and see who will be the luck baby!

Mood- Happy - off to "Friday Night Knit" at "The Ground" tonight. I can't wait to see all my knitting friends. But it's snowing .. and they say don't drive....
WIP - Finishing on a baby sweater that my late friend. Needs to be done by May 5th. Whoops I better hurry. I will post a picture of WIP. I am also working on 2 socks at the same time. I am going to frog though.
What Audio Books I’m Listen To - I've been listening to "Sticks and Strings" and "Knitpick Podcast" with Kelley Petkum. The subject is interesting... but I wish she would just read her script. I don't exactly know what it is.... She talks then a long pause.. anyway when she interviews people she's allot better. She is improving.
Weather : It's snowed today 6 inches and is still snowing. Is it really spring or is it "Global Warming"?

Mood- Tired .. just got back from vacation. Learned today that Pauline is back in the Hospital. My daughter is having an OPEN HOUSE tonight so I will miss knitting.
WIP - While on vacation I start a pair of sock with the yarn I had dye earlier at the workshop put on by the guild. I decided that I’m going to frog all the project I have on needles that I don’t like pattern or what is going on.. ie wrong yarn… project not working out…etc. Why waste the time and effort if I don’t like. So this was the first project to be “FROGGED”.

What’s up - We had a wonderful Easter!
WIP – The “Blue boy baby sweater” is finished!!! I have also finished a newborn hat.. hmm. The booties I made with matching yarn.. well that’s another subject. I didn’t have enough yarn. So I’m going to keep as a sample. I need 6 oz of yarn on size 3 needle. Oh well I though I weighted 13 oz. Guess not. Everything is on hold for now. Fingerless gloves, scarf, etc. Now I have to figure what to take on vacation to Az.
What I’m Doing - My husband and I are headed for Az. We have someone to watch the dog and someone to say at the house and we are are having one of our bathrooms remodeled while we are gone. Lots going on. We are have my DH father’s memorial service next week so we will have lots of family. The Az. House has been sitting for 9 months…hmmm lots of cleaning but then lots of sun. I’ve got to pack and get everything ready.

Rain Rain Go Away
What’s up - Well it’s Friday! Update on our friend Pauline. She’s doing allot better. She’s still having pain in her leg. She’s looking allot better… she needs to slow down a little. I wish she had some help.
What I’m Doing – Friday Night Knit tonight and tomorrow is “The Guild”. It’s always fun to see what people are knitting.
WIP – The “Entrelac Scarf” is still on my needles and put away. I’ve started a baby hat for my daughter’s best friend. Her shower is in 3 weeks. I also plan on making some booties. My “Baby Blue sweater is almost done. The Lace cardigan is to the armhole decreases. The thrum mitten … well I’m going to frog them. The yarn I pick out for this project doesn’t seem to be working. I have something else in mind. I’m trying to concentrate on 2 projects at a time.. well see if this will work.
What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I just finished “Hand of Evil” by J.A. Jance. It was very good and I just started “Lady Killer” by Lisa Scottoline read by Barbara Rosenblast.. one of my favorite readers. This is her new book and I was surprised that the library had a copy!

Mood - I feel like a broken record. Still much to do and so little time. Lots of stress. But I get a stress reliever tomorrow….. Chase.
WIP and FO’s - Baby sweater is coming along (see picture). I finished the last sleeve last night after frogging 2 times. Now I just have 30 rows of the body and I’m finished. Hooray. I’m not knitting anymore baby sweater with someone in mind… I will knit and who ever has thier baby… that’s who gets it. My baby gift's will be hat’s or /and booties. I finished the “Umbilical Baby Hat” for my new grandnephew who lives in Japan and mailed today. (see picture) It’s way to big …. Oh well. The Lily Chin sweater is only one set of the pattern down… I better get busy.. next class is Monday. I really don’t plan on keeping up just going and observing. The Brown Sheep cotton is a pain… it keeps splitting. I’m wondering if I should change needles … to my “Denise” needles. The fingerless gloves … well I had to tniK back. :-(.
What I’m Doing - Last week was game night on Friday night. That did cheer me up for awhile – but back to the grind. We played a game called “Hand and Foot”. The biggest score for my team ever. Over 9000 points. Last round we could not get a 2nd red book…. And the other team did not want to go out because we were to far ahead. So…………….. we ended up with 8 black books and 1 red book and almost closed the last. We must have had at least 12 wild cards if you can imagine. It was fun. Tonight “FridayNightKnit@thegrounds. I will pick up Miss Pauline. She is still having circulation problems with her leg and is in allot of pain. Tomorrow I’m taking a sock class through our local guild. It's really a workshop. I know the basic’s of knitting socks, but I can always learn more techniques and get more ideas and this supports our guild! I want to learn 2 Socks at the same time! Any method.

I’m listening to “The Appeal” by John Grisham on my CD player. Read by Michael Beck. He’s one of my favorite readers. I’m having fun listening to the “Sticks and String” pod-cast. I download all of them (54) and I’m on #30.

Mood- I’m tired and stressed both at the same. So much to do and so little time – it my work that has me anxious. We gearing up for our “Shooting Sport Show” and although things are coming together.. there not. Also my elbow is killing me

I signed up for a sweater classed taught by Toni .. it’s a Lily Chin knit with Brown sheep cotton. I missed the first class but I visited with Toni and now I’m on track. I’m also finishing a project my friend Bobbie started.. a pair of fingerless gloves. Almost done.

What’s up - Well our friend Pauline is in the hospital. Heart. She had 2 stents put in yesterday. I guess it was touch and go. PTL she’s better.
What I’m Doing – Friday Night Knit tonight. I will miss Pauline. I’m planning on working on the “Dutchess Helmet Hat”. I really liked the “Thrum Mitten” class. When I went home I frogged and started over as my gauge was not good.
WIP – The “Entrelac Scarf” is on hold. My niece had her baby yesterday so I need to start her baby sweater. I bought the yarn sooo. I better get going.

What’s up - It’s Friday. It’s cold and it’s been snowing. My DH went to the cabin today to check on things…so I get to go knitting early. I hope to pick up Pauline and bring her. She sounds like she’s doing better. Had allot of test this week. My wonderful friend Bobbie went to be with the Lord yesterday. I’m so sad. She was a wonderful knitter and quilter and Stain glass creator. She was my mentor and there’s a big hole in my heart right now.
What I’m Doing – Friday Night Knit tonight with Pauline. I hope to work on my baby sweater. I signed up for a “Thrum Mitten” class with the Knitters of the North our local guild. I’ve got my homework done. I will post a picture.

The “Zigzag” fingerless gloves.. well I had to frog back because after weighing on the post scale I did not have enough yarn. Gulp. I plan on finishing “Blue Baby Boy” sweater this week so I can start on my nieces baby sweater. Her baby is due the end of Feb. and I have the yarn I just want to finish one before I start another.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow
What I’m Doing – Friday Night Knit tonight!!!! Yeah. It’s been 3 weeks. I’ve been on vacation til the 3rd of January, then I had a family medical emergency. My very best friend is very sick…she is my family. She lives in the Seattle area. She is the one who has helped me and mentored me all my life, even before I got married. She and I are knitting buds. I flew to seattle after I got back from Hawaii and helped with her care. She is 73 years old and has terminal cancer. I am very sad. She wants us all to be brave and remember she is always with us in spirit. Still it’s hard.
WIP – It’s been awhile since I posted. I mainly worked on the “Entrelace Scarf”. I have to confess…I hate it. It’s soooooooooo slow. I think I have the pattern down though. I will be glad when I’m finished. I worked on the “Blue Baby Boy” sweater. I have one sleeve done. I left the instructions at home so I couldn’t do much. The fingerless gloves are still the back burner.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – “The Third Degree” by Greg Iles read by David Colacci, was excellent 4***. “The Book of the Dead” by Patricia Cornwell read by my favorite reader Katie Reading - 4****** and “Playing for Pizza by John Grisham read by Christopher Evan Welch – 3*** - It was about at football player… lite reading a different book for Mr. Grisham. I’m still listen to “The Choice” by Nicholas Sparks read by Holster Graham on my IPod.

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas everyone!
I haven't blogged in 2 weeks.. lots going on. Getting ready for Christmas.. Kids.. grandkids and friends. Please pray for my wonderful friend who's like a mom ... she had cancer. She needs a miricle.. and we know God is in the miricle business. We are going on a trip for Christmas with DD and SIL and GS... but I will miss a white christmas. If we have internet I will post more.

What’s up - Well our good friend “Pauline” is in the hospital and we don’t know what’s
Going on. SSSSSSSSSSSSSooooooo we are concerned.
WIP – I ran out of yarn for the “Blue boy baby sweater”. I was able to purchase 3 more skeins. Only 66 yard a skein. I must have misread the yardage. I finished “Mint Green Helmet Hat”. Zaynab helped me @ Friday Night Knits. I worked on the “Entrelac Scarf” for a few hours this week. I’ve just be to blue. The fingerless gloves … well the one is still on the needle.
What I’m Doing - Babysit “Boo Boo” tonight. I will go to knitting for a couple of hours. Our friend Aaron is going to show us some blogging tips and how to make uploading pictures easier. My husband and I are going to a basketball game tomorrow night again! I will take my knitting. I had a lady intrigued with the I-Cord finish of the Mint Green Hat. It was fun talking with her.

Still listenting to “Eye Contact” by Cammie Mc Govern on a playaway. I need to listen more not just a exercise.

What’s up - Thanksgiving is over!!! Now on to Christmas.
WIP – The “Blue boy baby sweater” is coming along. I’m to sleeve #1. I’ve gotten 3 buttons added. The baby is already here! Sooooo I better hurry. I’m almost finished with the “Mint Green Helmet Hat”. I’m taking it to knitting tonight to find out how everyone finished their’s. I have an idea but before I commit I want to check out the options. I went to a reverse knitting class 2 weeks ago and am making an “Entrelac Scarf”. Also on the needles still……..the fingerless gloves. I did add the waste yarn.
What I’m Doing - My husband and I are going to a basketball game tomorrow night and of course I’m off to to knitting tonight and tomorrow. I want to start baking for Christmas. I went with a friend shopping on “Black Friday” and got some shopping done. Not many gifts this year as we’re going to Hawaii on Christmas Eve. My darling daughter told me not to decorate but I still put up most my “Christmas” stuff. Just because we’re not going to be here on Christmas what about the 30 days before? She does not have to decorate because they sold there house and now they are scrabbling to find a new house.
What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I finished “The Garden of Eden” by Fay Kellerman read by read by George Guidall and others. This audio book is a collection short stories. It was very good. Now I’m listening to “The Game of Silence” by Louise Erdrich read by Anne Fields. This is rated as a “juvenile” book but I find it very good. About american Indians and the 1600’s.
I’m still listening to “Eye Contact” by Cammie Mc Govern on a playaway. It’s easy to take along to “Curves” and listen while I’m working out!

What’s Going On – A date with my husband tonight. We will go to a local UAA Men’s basketball game. Tomorrow knitting workshop with KON and in the evening a Knitting Class at the Knitting Grounds.
WIP – Fingerless mitten is still and orphan… but I’m to the thumb. The “boy baby sweater” is coming along .. 3 buttons and I’m almost to the sleeves. I got my order from “Knit Picks”. More needles? And a little yarn that was on sale. Some that my LYS was out of. I’ve got a “Cable top down hat” in Mint green (see picture) that I’m working on for a Belated Birthday Present. Its fun and fast but the directions leave a lot to be desired. It’s a good thing that Zaynab and Grandma got me going!
What I’m Doing – Getting ready for Thanksgiving and trying to think about Christmas. We will be in Hawaii for part of Christmas with my daughter. It won’t seem like it but I’m going to decorate anyway.

Read by Julia Fletcher. In the car I’m listening to “The Garden of Eden” by Faye Kellerman read by George Guidall. It’s a collection of short stories and very good.

What’s Going On – Friday Night Knit@thegrounds tonight! I’m going to start ona helmet hat for a birthday present for an 11 year old. Tommorrow is Knitters of the North and we have to bring the snack. Hmmm what to make?
WIP – This week I’m working on the fingerless mittens still. I bought eyelet buttons for the “boy baby sweater”. So far I’ve added to buttons. I really like knitting the button on the same row as the button hole. If I use double point needles for the sleeves then when I’m finished all I have to do is block! I need to have this sweater done by next Friday. We’ll see.
What I’m Doing – This weekend KON and relaxing and knitting. I do need to grocery shop. Get geared up for thanksgiving. I hate to go to the commissaray though. Why does thanksgiving and Christmas fall on the “woman” of the house.
What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m still listening to “The Burnt House” by Faye Kellerman. In the car I’m listening to “10 Days in the Hills” by Jane Smiley. She’s a good writer but…. There are places where I fast forward because she gives too much information. I also am listening to a playaway – ‘Eye Contact” by /cammie Mc Govern. Read b?y Julia Fletcher. It’s a novel about an Autistic child and the prejudices that go with raising a child with special needs. I really like the idea of these “Playways” they are light and compact and I expecially like them when I’m working out at Curves. Which I got to go 2 times this week.
