These are the socks

This is ...the purse!!

This is my SIL Slippers...
a work in progress

This is Chase's new Sweater..
it just need buttons
Mood - It's friday .. phew at last ...it's been a hard week

WIP - I finished Chase's sweater and I am going to add 3 baseball buttons. I will make a buttonhole loop. I'm still working on SIL's Slippers. I Started a pair of socks for the "Knitting Grounds" sock challenge. This is a tube sock with a waste yarn insert where the heel is. After I create the tube and the sock is the right length. I will go back and rip out waste yarn, pick up the "live" stitches and knit the heel, the same as the toe. The pattern is k2, p2 for 1 inch, the row 1, k2,p2 - row 2 - straight knit. I will follow this pattern on the top of the sock to the toe. This is the challenge. Everything is a first for me. I attended the enterlac purse class. This is more complicated than I thought it would be. I think I have the hang of it. I will post a picture. I still need to finish the "Ribwarmer" and the "Ballet V-Neck" sweater.

What I’m Doing - We are going to the cabin Saturday and then we will have a father's day picnic on Sunday with extended family. I plan on knitting and listening to books.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - :
“The Da Vinci Code”
by Dan Brown. It a little hard to follow.... read by Colin Stinton... he has a soft voice. I have to listen a little more before I give an opinion. Just finished "A Cold Heart" by Jonathan Kellerman very good at least a 4*. I just finished "Blessings" by Ann Quindlen, 3* and the "Hard Way" by Lee Child. A little slow at first but o.k.

Weather -
High 59 Scattered Showers . Tonight Cloudy with a few showers. Low 49F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Rain tapering off

Weekend - Times of sun and clouds. High 60s and low 50's.

Chase with his Birthday Hat on is head!! Isn't he cute. XXOOXX

Catie's Birthday socks.
Mood - Happy - I’m a grandma!! He’s a sweetheart…

WIP - Catie’s socks are done.. woohoo…. I mailed them yesterday and they will get there tomorrow….but….. Catie will be gone..she will be on the way to “Disney World.” I wasted $14.00 on postage. That’s a skein of ‘Touch Me”. Boo Hoo. "Happy Birthday Catie" even if you are playing with Mickey Mouse. I just hope they fit her. They sure look long. But my sister said that her foot is 9 ¼” sooooo I hope … I should have had her measure around her foot too. Next time I will have her send me a pair of her worn out socks. I cast on the first pair of slippers for my SIL while I was at the cabin and they are almost finished – I stopped at the cuff. I put them on a holder and will knit the second up to the same point. For some reason I only bought 3 skeins of yarn.. 1 tan and 2 green? I want a camouflage look but I think I better knit the other body of the slipper first. I got the yarn for Chase’s baby sweater and will work on the sleeves. I don’t like how long and wide they are. I put the sweater on him and he has a way to grow. I hope to finish the "Ribwarmer" with the I Cord around the edge. I only have the right front top to finish and sew at the shoulder .. then finish. I’m signed up for a class for making a enterlac purse. I already bought the kit. The teacher is the same as the “Ribwarmer” so I can always get help from her with my vest if I get stuck.

What I’m Doing - I will finish up the flower beds – almost done. We had a very warm weekend and holiday. It was the hottest Memorial we had in years. We even had a very serious forest fire. It’s finally raining and we need it, or rather the flowers and the ground does. My FIL arrives tomorrow for the summer.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - “In Cold Blood” by Turman Capote. I thought this would be a little dry…. I read while I was in school. It’s allot better than I thought. 4* so far. I finished “Two Little Girls in Blue” by Mary Higgins Clark. I’d give it a 3*. I also finished “Girls in Pants” The third summer of the sisterhood by Ann Brashares .5*. I finish “Beach Road” by James Patterson while at the cabin. I like the ending.. it’s different than I expected but that's James Patterson for you. I rate it a 4*. Next up "Blue Shoes".

Weather - High 53 Showers . Tonight Cloudy with a few showers. Low 46F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30%. Weekend - Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s.

Mood - O.K. Yeah is Friday. My daughter just called--- Sunday is the big day!!! They are going to enduce.. if she doesn’t have him before. I’m gonna be a grandma!!.

WIP - Catie’s socks are coming along although I seem to have ladder running up the inside of one of the socks. I hope I can tighten. I went to the Melissa Leapman seminar on Monday night. It was great. She is a terrific teacher. She had hand outs that made sense. She didn’t rush us and helped us along. I wish I had gotten to go to some of her other classes. I don’t think I’ll get to use information from “The Niffy Necks” for awhile… but who knows. I did buy her new book... she will ship them next week. I’m going to LYS for knitting tonight. I helped them move last week and I’m anxious to see how the new shop looks. She’s going to try and put some of the yarns by color not by brand. I think people will balk… who know. Alaskans are set in thier ways. I went to a shop in Seattle like that…the people there where SNOBS. What ever you do if you go there… do not ask “Where’s the sock yarn?”. LOL.

What I’m Doing - I plan on working on my flower’s this weekend so I will be spending $$$ at local greenhouse. I sure hope it warms up!!

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - "At Risk" by Patrica Cornwelli. I was a little disappointed.. but I guess with only 4 cd’s she could not get into detailed like she usually does.

Weather - High today 55 Low tonight 36 - The weekend forecast is cloudy and rain. Sundays high is suppose to be 60.....yeah right.

Friday, May 12, 2006

Mood - O.K. Yeah the weekend it almost here!!!! And the forecast is warm and warmer still!

WIP - The rib warmer, Ballet V-neck sweater, Catie’s socks, another ponytail hat, a baby sweater… and 3 swatches of the 5 needed for my “Nifty Necks” class. I bought yarn this week to start on slippers for my son-in-law so I have to get them started.

What I’m Doing - My LYS is moving .. tonight and tomorrow so I’m going to try and go over for an hour or so tonight b/4 EHS softball game, and again tomorrow morning. Then yard work and more EHS softball. I’m looking forward to Sunday church and relaxing.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - Split Second by David Baldacci. I only give it 2.5* .

Not very interesting.

Weather - High today 53 Low 38 The weekend forecast is Mostly sunny… Sunday might get up to 57 -- yeah it rocks~!!

Lastly today is the socks I'm knitting for my niece. She only 9 and has a long (8 7/8") foot. This is some yarn I got from good friend who also knits lovely socks.

Mood/What's UP - O.K. - I'm taking it one day at a time. - I find myself wanting to dialing my mom, or thinking "I wonder what mom would say?" It takes time .... I know but right now I'm just trying to get back to "normal". On top of everything else our little doggie "Freida" got sick right after my mom passed away. We got everything under control and she was doing o.k. Things we're looking up and then she went into heart failure and we had to put her down. It was very hard for me and my son ... especially on the heal of my mom's death. I'm working with the High School softball team again this spring so that's keeping me busy and my mind other places. I'm waiting for the birth of my first grandchild!!! I can't wait.

WIP/On My Needles - Since the last time I posted .... I'm still working on the sweater for my daughter.... the V-Neck is the problem and the Yarn shop where I took the class is out of business. I'm on the right front of my "Rib Warmer" - I only have 10 more row before I cast off /with the 3 needle bind-off (I've never done before) then finish with the I-Cord bindinhg around the body. I'm waiting for my "Blue Alpac" yarn / then I can finish the baby sweater I'm knitting for my yet to be born grandson!!! I also have a pair of socks on the needles for my niece. I finished the hat for my softball buddy. I'm going to try and upload some pictures!

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - Since I last posted I've listened to 6 books .. I'm listen to "Memoirs of a GEISHA“ (5)* * * * * It's wonderful. I can't put it down. I can't wait to see the movie.

Weather - Brrr It's suppose to be spring??? Weather Bug says - 39 degrees. Snowed over night and had to brush snow off the windshield. Will be cold tonight at the girls softball game.

I’m using “Lamb’s Pride” #M-04 Charcoal Heather. It’s 85% Wool/15% Mohair. It should be a nice break. I finished the mitten for mom, a pair of Hobo fingerless mittens, and a scarf in the last 2 weeks. Waiting at doctor’s appt. etc. I still need to work on the "Black Hat" .

What I’m Doing - Well the books I check- out were very useful. None that I’d buy though. I went to Friday “Stitch and Knit” at “The Knitting Grounds” and hooked up with my stitching buddies and that was nice. What Audio Books I’m Listen To - - "Turning Angel" by Greg Iles... was great and since then I’ve listen to ”Monster” by Frank Peretti ***, “Ya Yas in Bloom – ***, “No Place Like Home” – Mary Higgins Clark ***, Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kasdhata - ****, “Devil’ Corner” by Lisa Scottoline - *****, and right now “The Narrows” – By Michael "

My husband is going to come and sit with my mom on Friday night so I can go to Knitting. I can't wait.. I miss my knitting friends. I just bought some yarn to make my mom some mittens. Her gloves do not fit because of the water retention issues she is having.

I give it * * "London Bridges" by James Patterson- * * * , "Honeymoon" by James Patterson * * * *, and "True Believers" by Nicholas Sparks * * * . Right now I'm listening to "Turning Angel" by Greg Iles... at least * * * *.

Mood - Tired – My mom was diagonis with Cancer and I’m the one that is having to move in with her and take care of her. That’s why I haven’t been able to post for a month,.

WIP - Finished the "Touch Me” scarf. I got to go to a sock class and worked on a new technique.. although I did not actually start a new pair of socks. It was a very informative class. I was not able to go to the 2nd class because my mom could be left by herself. I also finished a “Fun Fur” hot pink scarf for a friend at work- she bought the yarn and asked me to make her DD and her Niece a scarf. I didn’t get a picture.. I’m working on the Light Pink one now… I do not like working with Fun Fur… it’s to easy to pickup exta stitches and it’s hard to add another ball on.

What I’m Doing
-Still finishing up the mittens and headband. I am working on a sweater for my DD. I’ve gotten to 3 of my “Sweater Workshop” classes and I’m getting ready to start on the sleeve. I have a picture to post…but my biggest thing right now is taking care of my mom. I moved in to her house. It seems like I’m working day and night with her. I get some relief from my husband and son. My son is moving back in with us( at our home) so that my husband can stay over at my moms with me. I also have to go to work for a few hours each week or I will loose my benefits.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - “A Breath of Snow in Ashes” by Diana Gabeldon..her lasts book in the “Outlander” series. Disk 34. I just don’t have time to listen. Sigh….. its’ a wonderful book.

Weather -
Well winter came and it snowed… then 3 days ago the wind came and it all melted. Right now it’s cloudy. A chance of snow this evening… then snow likely after midnight. Snow accumulation up to 2 inches. Lows in the mid 20’s to lower 30’s. Light winds.

Mood - Anxious, worried- My mom is having health issues and I’m involved with her care.

WIP - Finished the “Pulse Warmers” – They are nice. But too cold now to use. I will use at hockey games. I will post a picture next time. I finished the Felted mittens for Elle, for her birthday. They turned out nice.. but I wasn’t very happy about the stripes. I’m working on the Blue Mittens for my DD. One down 1 to go. Matching Headband. And a sampler for the “Sweater Workshop” class I’m in. Also christmas washcloths. I’m also working on a Christmas scarf – "Touch Me" – I’m making it for one our factory reps’ wife. He ask me in July.. so I better get done.

What I’m Doing - Finishing up the mittens and headband. I don’t want to think about Christmas – and it’s just around the corner. My DH is hunting in Minnesota this week. I should be getting my closets cleaned out… oh well.

What I’m Doing – I’ve been busy knitting, since I last posted. I finished the felted bag. I finished one of my DD felted mittens(not felted will wait and felt them both at the same time). I went to my class on “Pulse Warmers” and finished one of them (see picture). I became a “Guild- Knitter of the North” member. I attended the Yarn Expo II and attended a “Toe Up Class” there by Joan Schrouder’s. It was a lot of information to absorb in 3 hours but I did finish the “one sock” last night. I did learn many new things. I will go to knitting tonight at my LYS before Bible study. The sweater class, using “The Sweater Workshop” book was cancelled maybe a blessing in disquise. Phew!!!!

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - In the car -“A Good Yarn” at work - Anita’s Diamant’s “The Last Days of Dogtown”. She also wrote “The Red Tent”. I’m on Disk 6 of 9. Next – “A Breath of Snow in Ashes” by Diana Gabeldon..her lasts book in the “Outlander” series.. I can’t wait. It’s 48 Disks.

Whew...lots to do, and a sweater class, using “The Sweater Workshop” book. Bought yarn for Face cloths and got a pattern. So I will be busy knitting!!!!

What I’m Doing – I’m going to plant tuplips, clean out all the flower beds and get the “white lights” ready. I also want to bake some bread and bulk hamburger.

Mood – Depressed – It’s Friday- It’s nice to be home but… work is awful right now!!!!

WIP - Birthday scarf for my little knitter friend. A felted bag, a scarf for a friend at church, and I started on DD mittens, and oh yeah the hat for my WF- I’ve had to frog 2X. The Amble socks.. well I worked on them about 10 hours while on vacation and decided that I didn’t like the pattern.. even though I figured it out. I think it was the “Lorna’s Lace Yarn” and the colorway. Is it all right to frog a project and not finish? I feel a little sad and a failure… well just a little. I will post pictures later.

What I’m Doing
– We’re going to the cabin tomorrow and get all the items that might freeze and bringing them home. We’re going to bring Snoopy. I hope my DD packs his “New Sweater” – It’s cold up there..low of 49. Vacation was wonderful.. Ocean Shores was great.. more on that and all the Knitting later. Best news of all was the doctor was very happy with my husband!!! PTL. Said he doesn’t want to see him again till the spring!

What Audio Books I’m Listen To - Since I last posted I’ve listened to 2 books and read “The Shop on Blossom Street". I loved it. I’m going to listen to it next. Now I’m listening to “Falling Awake” by Jayne Ann Krentz. It’s going kind of slow. Been to busy at work to stay at it. My friend just got “A Good Yarn”. I can’t wait for her to share.

Weather - Overcast with rain showers at times. High 59F. Low 48F.Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60%. Currently 55F. Fall is definitely here.
