This is the "Scramble Sox's"
Magic Loop on Knit Pic's #2-24"

Happy 4th of July

Mood – It’s Friday. This is my usual day for posting. It’s a nice hot day for us. Looks like the weekend will be nice. I’m planning on going to my LYS tonight to knit. Tomorrow I think I will go garage sale…ing. The to the cabin for the day. If we don’t go to the cabin I might go to the Mentors meeting.

What I’m Doing – Been busy taking DH to the doctor’s etc. He’s not been feeling well and we’re trying to get to the bottom. Work is busy with people from out of town ordering for the season. I’ve also been helping my friend with a buttonhole purse. I helped her finish this week and I took it home and felted it for her. She’s going to like it. I thought it turned out great. The colors are allot lighter after the felting.

WIP – All done with “Guide Post Charity Sweater”. All the seams are sewn up now I just have to turn it in. It wasn’t as easy as I thought. I blocked it first then used the mattress stitch to sew up the sides. It still seems a little stiff. If I do again I will knit in the round for sure. The shoulder seam didn’t turn out like I thought. They will do. I will have to do more research next time. The buttonhole purse is still on hold. I’m still working on the top down sweater for my grandson. I plan on a major attack this weekend. I did work on the sleeves this week. I’m still working on the washcloth. I’m on my decreases so I’m over half done. I started my “Scramble socks” out of the yarn that I dyed. I call them “scrambled” because of the yarn colorway.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m finished with “Dream When Your Young by Elizabeth Berg. It's a story centered around WWII and a family with 3 young ladies and their lives while the “boys” are away at war. I’d give it a 3. I’m listening to
“Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child read by Dick Hill my favorite reader. Very good book so far.

Completed Hat!
Mood – It’s Friday. Boy summer has finally come to Alaska.. but so have the wild fires. There are several that are burning out of control so the smoke and haze that is hanging over Anchorage is terrible. Visablility is very limited. Apparently visablility in Kenai and up north where the fires is o.k. The wind is blowing the smoke our way. We might see the sun later today.

What I’m Doing – We won’t be going to the cabin this weekend because of the fire danger and the fire that is burning up in that area. I was thinking of going knitting tonight then garage sailing tomorrow. I need to look for a portable crib for BOO BOO. Our father’s day picnic was a success.

WIP – I’ve finished knitting the “Guide Post Charity Sweater”. Now all I have to do is sew up the seams. I wish I could have gone to the finishing class last month that the guild offered. The buttonhole purse is on hold. The hat for “Hat’s for the homeless” is done and turned in. The twisted stitch turned out just fine. Because the yarn was soft (encore) it didn’t spiral too much. I’m still working on the top down sweater for my grandson. I’m almost done with one sleeve. I just need to finish the second and add the ribbing on the sleeves and the bottom. I want to finish it so he can wear it camping. I started a wash cloth for a “take along” project. Just plain garter.. start with 4 stitch then increase every row till 44 stitch then dec. 1 stitch down to 4 stitches.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m finished “Fresh Disaster” by Stuart Woods. 4*. I need to finish “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult. We’ll see. I listened to Alibi Man by Tami Hoag ….. 5* -excellent. Now I’m listening to “Dream When Your Young by Elizabeth Berg. She also reads this novel but I’m not too fond of her voice.
It’s a little slow.

Weather – Mostly cloudy skies. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 62F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph.

More pictures...of of "The Yarn Harlot" visit.

Summer has come to Alaska

Mood – YEAH summer is here!!!

What I’m Doing – Getting ready to go to the cabin!!! My husband is recoping from his surgery and we are going to try and stay all weekend at the cabin and celebrate “father’s day”. Getting packed and ready will fall all on me but that’s o.k. He can help a little but I don’t want him to over do it. Hopefully we’ll be able to fish. And his sister and family will be up on Sunday for our annual picnic.

WIP – I'm still working on the “guide post charity sweater”. I’m also working in my grandson’s sweater, just finishing the first sleeve. The buttonhole purse is almost finished. I also started a hat for “Hat’s for the Homeless” project that we we’re doing in conjunction with the “Yarn Harlot's" visit. I will finish soon .. I’ll take a picture and post next week. I’m using a twisted stitch. I like the look. I did finish the baby sweater for my friend’s new grandson and mailed off before I got a “finished” picture. Oh well maybe she’ll take a picture for me.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I’m listening to “Fresh Disaster” Stuart Woods - A Stone Barrington Novel. Good no brain listening/mystery. I finished “6th Target” by James Patterson but could not finish “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult. Kids shooting kids didn’t settle well with me.

Weather – Partly Cloudy – 61 with a high of 63 /low of 52. Wind (cold) from the north 5 mph. Sunrise 4:22 am Sunset 11:40pm.. Lots of sunshine!

Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
is coming next month!
I got her new book so
she can autograph.

This is the "Guide Post"
Charity sweater. Hmm is
bigger than I thought it
would be and I'm using
acrylic yarn (per there
requirements) so I'm getting
a blister on my finger when
I knit.

This is the
top/down
Baby Sweater
Almost done!

This is the first
washcloth of the season
What I’m Doing – Work is getting hectic. It’s that time of the year. Today is clean up day. They feed us pizza and we clean up outside the buildings. My husband had a MRI this week and today we get the results. If you read this please say a prayer for him. He’s a cancer survivor. He’s been having some problems with his vision and mild headaches. So we’re getting it checked out.

WIP – I’m working on a “Guidepost’s” Charity child’s sweater. The Top Down Baby sweater is almost done. 2 more rows on the bottom and the finish on the collar. I plan on finishing this week and mailing it to the "new arrivial". Next I need to frog Chase’s sweater and work on the neck and finish the bottom. His birthday party is next Saturday. I better get busy. I want to go to knitting tonight and finish the buttonhole purse. The baby booties still need to be finished. It took me 1.5 hours while watching E.R. to wind the yarn that I dyed last month at the guild's monthly workshop. Phew.. I used a TP roll and that really helped to keep the yarn under control while I walked around in circles.LOL

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I am still listening to “19 Minutes” by Jodi Picoult. I’m on disk 14 of 18. It good.. about a boy who gets bullied by his peers.

Weather – Mainly cloudy. high of 48F. Tonight cloudy with a low of 38F. Cloudy all weekend.

Mood - It’s Friday. Horrah! The snow in our backyard is GONE!

What I’m Doing – I am not having a good week. My blood pressure is up again. Looks like I’ll have to be put on BP med. I don’t want to but… I need people to pray for my husband and my son. My husband for health issues with his eyes. And my son for a teaching job. He just got his Masters in teaching with an emphasize in social studies. He doesn’t always interview well but it’s because he’s nervous. He’s really good with kids and is in the top 5% of his class academically. Work is going fine for once. And guess what .. spring has come!

WIP – I still have 6 UFO in progress. I wish I could tell you I’m finished with something but I’m not. The person whom I’m making the baby sweater has a baby!!! But am I done…NO. But I’m coming along – I finished the sleeve and now I’m on the body. I had to rip out 5 rows last night on the body. The only good thing I have to remember is that when I’m done… I won’t have any sewing up or buttons. YEAH. I tried Chase’s sweater on him last week. It almost fits.. just a little big .. so maybe when I’m done with it, it will fit. I am going to frog the neck .. I don’t like the k1,p1 I did. I’m going to change it to k2, p2. I’m almost done with the buttonhole purse but am waiting for my knitting buddy to come home from California. I’m almost finished with a washcloth that I have in the car for in between times.
And the Odessa hat…well that’s on the back burner. Oh yeah the baby booties I had to frog again. So this week has been a Ribbbit week.

What Audio Books I’m Listen To – I finished the “The History of Love” by Nicole Kraus and am listening to “19 Minutes” by Jodi Picoult. This book is 19 disk and I’ve had a problem with disk 10 so I had to skip it. Next up is “Daddy’s Girl” by Liz Scottoline!!

Weather – Mainly cloudy. A few peeks of sunshine possible!!!! High of 49F. Tonight partly cloudy with a low of 36F.

Here's a picture from the "Nancy Wild" workshop
that our local guild hosted this past weekend. It was so much fun. The finish product was awesome. And Nancy is a great teacher...so very helpful. I will post my "Skein" when I get a picture. Go here to see the rest of the pictures.

I finally
finish the
"Two Toe"
socks for
my good
friend while
on vacation.
I usually work
on a pair of socks
while I'm traveling
or in the doctors
office.

This pair took 8 months. I don't know if that's good or bad.
LOL. She loved them.. especially the color. And the Merino
Stretch wool is soooo soft. The only draw back is that she'll
have to wash them by hand. She promised me that she
would wear them.

This is the Top Down Sweater that I'm
making for Chase. I took a class from our
LYS earlier this winter. This class was a
little different from the Cardigan Neck down workshop. My concern is "will this fit over his head?". I've knit it in the round. I'm going to frog the neck band as I don't like it. I think I'll do a k2,p2. The same for the ribbing around the waist.
